HVAC INDUSTRY NEWS

Interested parties were invited to submit proposals to the utilities. One plan accepted was S.G. Torrice’s proposal to develop a High Efficiency Contractor Rebate Program for American Standard systems only, which offers contractors the exact same rebate as they will receive from the American Standard Stars and Stripes rebate program.   As a result, Torrice will issue rebate checks to contractors for each qualifying high efficiency system a contractor installs from February 08 through the end of the year.

The minimum ratings of a qualifying system are 14 SEER and 11.5 EER. The smallest rebate will be $40.00 for a 14 SEER condenser + variable speed air handler or $60.00 for a 14 SEER condenser + 95% 2 stage furnace. The highest rebate will be $120.00 for 16 SEER condenser + 95% 2 stage furnace.

To qualify, these systems must be installed with American Standard thermostats. S.G. Torrice will submit installation data to American Standard and dealer will also receive a Stars and Stripes rebate of the exact same amount. The Stars and Stripes program runs from March 15 through October 15th and does have a hurdle rate of 20 motor bearing units. So a contractor will not receive Stars and Stripes rebate money until he has installed 10 qualifying systems.  Combined, these programs put a lot of money on the table for both contractors and consumers.

S.G Torrice Launches Rebate Program with Breakfast Meetings.

The movement to sell more high efficiency HVAC equipment is taking hold at S.G. Torrice Company. They are the area distributors for American Standard equipment and they recently held breakfast meetings in their market area to promote a rebate program for contractors.

National Grid and NSTAR have a major corporate objective of reducing energy consumption by their customers and postponing or eliminating the need to build new power plants. One way to do this is to encourage the installation of high efficiency equipment.   The utilities have been doing this for a number of years through the CoolSmart program, which provides consumers with rebates for installing high efficiency a/c systems. Last summer the utilities solicited input from local distributors and manufacturers on what other suggestions they had for encouraging installation of high efficiency equipment.
