Five
More Educational Sessions Highlight 2012 Annual RSES
Conference Lineup.
Five more educational sessions add to the already
power-packed conference lineup during the 75th Annual
RSES Conference and HVACR Technology Expo that will be
held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual RSES
Mid-Southeast Regional Association Educational
Conference on Nov. 14-17, 2012 at the Wild Dunes Resort
in Isle of Palms, S.C. The 2012 conference will focus on
education as well as many industry-related topics and
the theme will be, “Your Bridge to Education and
Training.” The RSES Charleston Chapter will host the
event.
The five educational sessions include:
“Train the Trainer - Hydrocarbon Refrigerants,” will be
led by Patrick L. Murphy, CM, of RSES. This two-hour
session will target a beginner-level audience. Murphy
will cover what the Environmental Protection Agency has
established as the requirements for using flammable
refrigerants in the United States, the limitations for
uses and the potential issues of using flammable
refrigerants.
“Mechanically Attached Fittings for Joining Aluminum and
Copper Refrigeration Piping Compared to Traditional
Brazing,” will be led by Garry L. Rose of Reflok North
America Inc. and Jonathan Charles Perry of Hoffman &
Hoffman Inc. This two-hour session will target a
beginner-level audience. Rose and Perry will discuss the
differences between current copper piping systems
installed by soldering or brazing techniques versus
systems that are joined with mechanically joined methods
like flaring or Reflok joining techniques. Special focus
will be on applying field piping to higher pressure
refrigerants such as R-410A, and CO2..

“Decoding
Generation Y,” will be led by Emily Saving of Heating,
Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors
International. This two-hour session will target all
audience levels and will help attendees understand the
defining characteristics of a Millennial, what he or she
most values, and how to use this information to reach,
attract and engage a Millennial and lastly, why it’s
important to care.
“CM Preparation Session,” will be led by Jayson Goff,
CM, of T&O Refrigeration Inc. This two-hour session will
target an intermediate- to advanced-level audience. Goff
will review some of the key areas individuals seem to
have the most problems with when taking the Certificate
Member exam.
“Growing Your Chapter” will be led by Ken Robinson, CM,
of Climate Pro Mechanical. This 90-minute presentation
will target RSES Chapter Officers. Robinson will:
discuss member retention; what does your chapter do now
and what more can you do; marketing your chapter to
supply houses, vocational schools, etc.; growing your
membership and meeting attendance expectations; what our
chapter is doing; and final input from audience.
